HPMA Holiday Luncheon

Thursday, December 18th

Join HPMA for their holiday luncheon with guest speaker Eric Ruckstuhl with the Bayou Preservation Association.
Guests are asked to bring a gift card or other items benefiting Vita-Living.

The Bayou Preservation Association is a citizens' group whose mission is to "protect and restore the richness and diversity of our waterways".  BPA facilitates collaborative projects and public awareness about the region's streams and bayous in order to foster watershed management, conservation, and recreation along Houston's defining natural resource.

Eric Ruckstuhl is a Wetland Specialist and a Botanist.  His family moved to Austin where he learned of the swimmable creeks and bayous.  Later, after returning home to Houston, he found a passion for resurrecting the bayous that he grew up crossing such as Buffalo Bayou.  He has volunteered and then worked for the Bayou Preservation Association for over 18 years.  In that time they have been able to restore several parks and wild areas, create paddling trails, and reduce litter.

Vita-Living provides support services to almost 500 children and adults who have a broad range of intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism, and cerebral palsy.  These comprehensive services include all necessary clinical, medical, and social components, optimizing each person's potential and ability. Visit vitaliving.org for more information about their activities and needs.

As always, HPMA members are free; guests are $35 per person (pay at the door).

That was Oktoberfest 2014 on October 9th.

If you weren't there, you missed one fun-tastic evening. Around 200+ guests enjoyed all the fun and festivities that are Oktoberfest - food, friends and beer.

The award-winning St. Arnolds' beer is just part of the story. Guests also enjoyed a tasty German food buffet complete with three different types of sausages, saurkraut, potato salad, German bread, soft pretzels, cheese and of course, apple strudel for dessert.

There were plenty of other activities as well - you could make a print at the Printing Museum table, visit all the sponsors for a chance to win a VISA gift card, play the Duck Pond (courtesy of Space Age Laminating and Bindery), see the top winners form this year Graphic Excellence Awards Program, win one of the fabulous give-aways, and visit with your friends in the industry.
