Close to 250 guests had a chance to see all the masterpieces entered in the 2012 Graphic Excellence Awards Gala held April 18th at The Crystal Ballroom in the Rice Hotel. This annual event hosted by Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast, the regional affiliate of Printing Industries of America, had four galleries - the da Vinci, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, and Monet - to showcase all the outstanding pieces in this year’s print and graphic design competition. A GEA Wine Cellar was a new feature this year as well.

Guests strolled through the galleries while serenaded with harp music, enjoying hors d’ oeuvres, and visiting with eight senior students in the Digital Media Program at the University of Houston. Michael Makin, President and CEO of Printing Industries of America, gave a brief industry update before presenting plaques of appreciation to those board members who had completed their terms: Debbi Briggs, the Immediate Past President, Randy Rasch, Treasurer, and director Todd McKinley.

Attendees Hear How B2MeMag Platform
Can Help Their Business

Julie Plata, co-CEO of COPI, CodeZ QR and the OutputLinks Communications Group, shared how the B2MEMag platform will be used to update the American Printer magazine at the Women in Print Luncheon held February 8th. She went on to explain how it can be used in their operations and in turn, capture more business.

Julie and her husband, Andy, are well-versed in the industry, but have been instrumental in the creation of the OutputLinks Scholarship funds for future industry workers and OutputLinks Women of Distinction program, recognizing those women in the industry who have gone above and beyond.

Guests had a chance to network before the presentation as well as enjoy a terrific lunch at Ouisie’s Table.

In addition to Julie’s action item, guests took away a goody bag with one lucky person finding two tickets to a Houston Rockets basketball game!

Now that’s one event well-played.
